Autumn is one of most beautiful times of the year to experience camping in the 9 Lakes region. While the fall colors and fun festivals draw many visitors to the area, camping enthusiast will enjoy the warm days and mild evening temperatures which are perfect for an outdoor adventure for all types of camping- RVs to tents.
Plan to camp and attend the Lakeside of the Smokies Balloon Fest? Here are three of our favorite campgrounds conveniently located near the festival site- Panther Creek State Park in Morristown. Cherokee Dam Campground in Jefferson City, and the Douglas Dam Headwaters and Tail Waters campgrounds in Sevier County. All can accommodate a variety of rigs and set ups. Onsite facilities include hook-ups, showers, dump stations, and onsite stores. Reservations can be made online.
Nearby are private campgrounds and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park campgrounds. Prefer to sleep under a roof, no problem. Cabins and other types of lodging are also available. Learn more here.
